Tennessee Valley Real Estate

Tennessee, It's Home to me!

One of my favorite sayings, after making the Tennessee Valley my home is, “Tennessee, it’s Home to Me.”  I say that with good reasons; let me share a few with you.

The Greater Chattanooga area, Southeast Tennessee and the Tennessee Valley, are simply the best of all worlds.  There are cities and towns that teem with amenities and attractions in Real Estate in Chattanooga Tennessee areas. It does not matter what your tastes are, we have the ability to satisfy them.  The out of door activities are full range, from abundant golf courses to massive National Forests, we’ve got it all.  On any given day one can ski, kayak, canoe, boat, fish, hike, camp, hunt or just take a short drive through some of the most spectacular natural beauty in the Nation.  The plateaus, valleys, rivers, lakes and mountains provide some of the most breathtaking beauty that I’ve ever witnessed.  In addition to the natural resources, this area is rich with history and culture.  If you opt for small town living or seek the activity of one of our thriving cities in the “New South”, you’ll find striking contrasts, with pastoral farm land, country inns and scenic backroads always close at hand.

Maybe a family fun filled day at Lake Winnepesaukah.

Are You into History?  We live in the Greater Real Estate in Chattanooga Tennessee Areas, where Civil War Battles were fought and where brother fought brother because of differences in beliefs.  Greater Chattanooga hosts its VA National Cemetery where many civil war veterans are buried. Cravens House is located on Lookout Mountain as is Point Park   If you seek Civil War history, not necessarily printed in a book, you might want to visit Chattanooga.  You’ve heard of the Trail of Tears, well, did you know that it began right here in the Tennessee Valley and the Greater Chattanooga area at Ross’s Landing?   There are many museums in the area dedicated to the Civil War and the Trail of Tears.

I’m still a kid at heart, and part of that is Christmas.  I love Christmas.  Christmas on the River features a parade of illuminated boats traveling the Tennessee River, a fun family thing to do.  Christmas at Dolly World is a must.  I go every year and it never fails to bring a tear to my eye.  Then there’s the Appalachian Christmas, filled with song and dance and light shows and hot cider.

Chattanooga also hosts one of the finest if not the finest freshwater and saltwater aquariums in the world.  The Tennessee Aquarium is in constant change and there is always something new and different to see.  It is especially thrilling at feeding time to see the divers in the tanks being swarmed by fish looking for supper.

Did I mention Golf?  Well there are no less than a dozen golf courses close at hand, one, The Bear Trace was designed by none other than Jack Nickolas.  Now keep in mind that I’m not a glofer, but I’ve been told that the courses around here are outstanding and diverse.

The Greater Chattanooga Area abounds with lakes and rivers.  The Tennessee River runs through Chattanooga and actually bends and travels north in its journey to the Ohio.    The Hiwassee and Ocoee Rivers are in close proximity and each is very different in appearance, water flow and volume.  Lake Chickamauga is created by the dam of the same name on the Tennessee River at Chattanooga and is a wonderful lake to explore by boat.  There are numerous lakes scattered throughout the area and each offers water sports and fishing galore.  The Ocoee River offers fantastic whitewater rafting and was host to the Olympic Games held in Atlanta. The Ocoee River empties into The Hiwassee River. The Hiwassee can only be describes as Gorgeous as it wanders down to it’s junction with the Tennessee.

I can hear you saying, “There must be negatives, what are they?”  Well, we don’t have a lot of snow, ( I don’t own a snow-shovel) the climate is moderate, there are all four seasons to endure, and the people are so darn friendly that you may learn someone’s life history while standing in line at the grocery checkout, and ice-fishing is unheard of.  So, if you need -20 degree Fahrenheit temperatures, a snow load on your roof or snowmobiles to be happy, the Tennessee Valley may not be the place for you.

Is there any question as to why the Tennessee Valley and The Greater Chattanooga Area is home to me?  Come and visit as I did, explore our beautiful Tennessee Valley, taste the Greater Chattanooga Area, inhale the mountain air, visit the history, sample the culture and diversity and then maybe, if you’re fortunate, you too can “Find Your Place” and call the Tennessee Valley and The Greater Chattanooga Home.
